ZLARIN

Otok Zlarin je dio Šibenskog arhipelaga od 40-tak otoka i otočića te je jedan od 6 naseljenih.Smješten je gotovo u središtu jadranske obale i najbliži je gradu Šibeniku.Sa svojom udaljenošću o 3,5 NM čini se kao idealno mjesto za ladanje i bjeg od gradske vreve.Pruža sliku mirnog i tihog mediteranskog naselja od kamenih kuća,koje se sve više mješaju sa arhitekturom apartmanskog tipa,ali ni nakon 700 g. od kada se spominje otok Zlarin nije znatno promjenjen izgled mjesta.U novije vrijeme entuzijazmom pojedinaca a pogotovo dr.kirurgije VINKO ALFIER jednog od istinskih zaljubljenika u ovaj otok, počinje se sa uredjenjem Zlarina i izgradnjom prijeko potrebnih objekata .Unatoč 16 km. izgradjenih cesta i puteva na otoku je zabranjen promet automobilima što ga čini oazom za duge šetnje i vožnje biciklom.

Poznat je po koraljarstvu te je djelatnost obnovljena u reprezetativnom prostoru gdje je ujedno i prodaja.Zlarin je znan i kao zeleni otok jer gledan sa sjeveroistočne strane pruža se izvanredan pogled na otok prekriven vinogradima i maslinicima.Sa svoje jugozapadne strane pomalo je pust i sterilan kao Kornatsko otočje.Njegovu,većinom neravnu obalu,sa svih stana osim sa sjevera oplakuje duboko more.

Zlarinska je luka dobro zaštićena od bure a pogotovo od juga.Zbog čistog mora cijeli otok je jedna velika plaža pa odabir mjesta za kupanje ovisi o vjetru koji trenutačno puše.Veza sa Šibenikom je brodska linija koja povezuje otok sa kopnom 10 puta dnevno.Zbog svoje blizine postoji mogućnost posjeta slapovima Krke, Skradinskog zaljeva i Kornatskog otočja morskim putem. The island of Zlarin is one of 40 islands of archipelago of Šibenik and one of six inhabited. It’s set almost in the middle of the Adriatic coast and is closest to Šibenik of all. It`s only 5 miles from Šibenik. That well known tourist resort has been used as an ideal place for idling, away from the city traffic and noise. The quite place of Mediterranean and old stone houses, whose first records come some 700 years ago, hasn`t changed a lot since. Of course some new architecture of apartment type is seen a little. Thanks to enthusiasm some local people, the place is setting and some important points have been done. Among them is certainly Dr Vinko Alfier, the surgeon, a real lover of the island. In spite of 16 kilometers of the roads, the car traffic is not allowed. That important fact makes the island an oasis for long walks and cycling. Continuing the tradition of coral diving, here you can see a representative place with a museum and coral shop.

Zlarin is famous as a green island, because looking northeast, you have a wonderful view the island covered with vineyards and olive trees. Its southwest side is a bit deserted and sterile like Kornati islands. Its shores are from all sides, but north, washed by deep sea. The harbor of Zlarin is well protected of north wind (bura) and particularly of south wind (jugo). The sea is extra clean and that`s why the whole island is one large beach. So you can only think of wind and find yourself protected place for swimming . The place is connected with Šibenik by ship, 10 times a day. You can visit attractive places which are very near here, like the waterfalls of river KRKA, Skradin bay and the islands of Kornati.
